Karlie's Ode to Milk

If I could find my memory card for my camera, there would be a picture of the second shelf in our fridge that is currently holding ... 2 gallons of milk ... That's right people, 2 gallons!! Jake's goal of having milk in his life has been achieved. I am now a faithful milk drinker. Most days I have to chug it down but other days I actually find myself craving a big ol' glass of skim milk. I sure hope you're happy Jake! :)

I Might Still Be a Kid because...

... I still ask my mom if my outfit matches and is school worthy.
... I still laugh when someone says bum or poop.
... I love watching cartoons and disney movies more than any other t.v. show.
... I love playing board games.
... I get excited for school every morning.
... I love that I get to hang out with kids every day.
... I talk really fast when I get excited and sometimes start to stutter.
... I lose interest in subjects quickly and have to constantly be doing a different activity. (This shows through the lessons I teach in class. We do notes for like 15 minutes then I am doing activities for the rest of the class because not only am I entertaining my students, but I'm entertaining myself.)
... I go to bed really early.
... I tease my "crush" to show him how much I love him.

Stupid Things I Said On The First Day Of School

I feel bad when I yell at bad kids like you.
... Just in case you swear at me or bring a gun or something.
Dude...(on several occasions)
Take a green paper (the papers were brown)
Your name is toe?
Your name is Michelle? "yes" Do you usually go by Kenzie? "...uh.. No."
Andrew brown (the simplest name ever) did I pronounce that correctly? "yup, Andrew brown..." (name was changed for security purposes but the name was honestly that easy to say.)

This was a funny thing a student said to me after I showed my family picture...
"oh my gosh! I know your son!" (referring to Caden my 15 year old brother)
I honestly laughed out loud!

Thank You Work

I only have a few days left at work and I thought it would be appropriate to give them a shout out for all that they have done for me. This job has opened up so many opportunities for me and has been such a blessing in my life. The job was offered to me at such an opportune moment. I was working at a really great physical therapy clinic but I just couldn't get the hours that I needed to support my future expenses. I was engaged and stressed out about the big costs that were to come our way. Then Jay Francis called me and offered me this wonderful opportunity!  This job was able to provide me with a significant pay raise, full-time hours, health benefits and the chance to work with one of my best friends and her dad. (Which also meant awesome car-pool capabilities!)

Since working at S&J I have learned a whole lot about insurance, law suits, medical records, clerical work and several other things I never would have known otherwise. I have grown up and figured out how to dress professionally. I have more computer-smarts and much better communication skills. I have learned how to work hard. Some amazing people have come into my life and I have met some very intelligent people. I have been so very lucky to have this opportunity. I will miss S&J dearly but I look forward to what the future holds at SJHS.

A Few Of My Favorite Things (S&J Style)
Working with Hailey!!!
Lagoon Day
Summer BBQs
X-mas Poker Party
Chats w/ the Receptionists
Working with Betty Jean
Overhearing my angry co-workers conversations with his wife (so funny!)
Grateful people
Free Sporting Events
Bonuses
Lunches @ the Park

THANK YOU!!

The Best Things in Life are Free

Since my camera has recently broken and I am unable to post pictures of this past weekend, it was lovely! We were able to get together with Roosevelt friends for a wonderful time. It's too bad we don't live closer so we could all spend time together on a regular basis, although, it sure makes the times that we are together even more memorable and fun. Since there will be no pictures in this post, I will result to my other favorite thing... a list...

The Best Things in Life are Free

Snuggling up to Jake in a twin sized bed
Watching fireworks with friends and shouting out what color we think the next one will be
Seeing the smile on Jake's face when he is reunited with lifelong friends
Long car rides that allow us to talk about the future and all the great things to come
Playing with the cutest little boy (Teryn) and getting excited for when we can have a little one
Getting to know people better that really mean a lot to Jake
Hearing stories about my husband before I knew him
Lounging around all day (on rare occasions)
A few days without technology to recognize the important things in life
Game nights that get everyone laughing
Coming home to a clean house and a family that missed you
Being married to my very best friend

There are even more free things in life that I love, but this is just a few that I was reminded of this weekend.

Karlie Jensen Mitchell

This is my wife and all the things I love, like, and learning to like about her. I'll let you decide what I love, like, and am learning to like about her. Karlie loves sleep, blogging, the musty smell of the car a/c starting up. She hates being late, when I miss her phone calls, and with a passion... traffic. 4.0's in high school and college are no strangers to her transcripts. She loves soccer, but hates playing goalie, even though she is really good at it. She can cut her own hair fine, but is horrible at cutting her toenails. She is really good at criticizing my driving and never passes up an opportunity to do so. She is great at learning how to cook. Hates milk but loves taking calcium pills. She goes crazy with pinkies, especially babies' pinkies. She can smell the "outside" smell, a smell I have yet to understand. I think she loves laundry...( she does it all the time, so she must like it) She is hooked on Plants V Zombies. She is a million degrees when she sleeps, and loves to cuddle. She would give her first unborn child for a back massage. She would go to sleep at 8 o'clock if it were socially acceptable. She loves free things, even if she doesn't need, or want them. She loves watching the first part of a movie and sleeping through the rest. Hates being called frumpy and still has no idea what color of hair she likes better. Likes sunburns ( she gets them a lot), and peeling the skin. She is not puke free since '93. She cannot grasp the concept of folding your toilet paper (it's environmentally friendly). Loves gossip and other people's drama. She gets motion sick, but still goes on the rides that remind her of it. She loves her family. But hates the terrain park when snowboarding. She is good at winning arguments, and bad at letting me win.
Thats my wife, she is the greatest.

One Step Closer

I applied for graduation today.
I told UVU that I have taken the classes I need to, passed the important tests, handed in the critical assignments and learned the required material.
I told UVU that I'm done for now and moving on to better things.
I told UVU I'm ready for the "real world."
I told UVU my future students are waiting for me to teach them about where Vitamin D comes from, what type of learner they may be, how to remain abstinent, and ways to avoid peer pressure.

Now UVU knows that I'm ready to put on my teacher clothes and test out my teacher voice.
UVU knows I'm about to make great seating arrangements and grade assignments I designed.
They know I'm going to deal with tough students and even tougher parents.
But most of all, UVU knows that I'm going to be the best 8th and 9th grade health teacher that Springville Junior High School has ever seen and I'm going to love every minute of it.
(Even if it is only Student Teaching for 4 months without pay...)
