More Projects

Since I don't start at S&J again until Monday, I decided to keep myself busy with a few more craft projects.  I found these amazing frames at D.I. for just a dollar a piece and plan to do something amazing with them. I have already made earring holders out of two of them but I can't quite decide what to do with the others yet...
I saw this idea on one of the blogs that I follow and thought it was adorable so I decided to try it out.
My finished quilt! I must admit I am very proud of it! I know it's small and the lines don't match up perfectly but for my first quilt I am happy about it!

My two earring holders I made out of the previously mentioned frames.
The fabric for my newest project. I'm going to make another quilt. I love these fabrics so much!

My Crafty Side - Take 2

My latest project... We will see how this goes

Obsession

Anyone need a beanie? I'm slightly obsessed with making them now... I need to get rid of them so I can make more.

How can you not want one? Look how cute this little one is!

Better Late Than Never...

For Valentines day this year Jake made me some beautiful cards along with purchasing me some new yarn since I am slightly obsessed with making hats at this point in life...

Jake's cards were very unique, here are just a few of the sayings he came up with...

1. I HATE (in big letters) not spending time with (in small letters) YOU (in big letters)
2. You are swell. - With a hand drawn picture of a swollen ankle inside the card. It was probably my favorite...
3. Roses are red, violets are blue... anytime you need to nervous poop, I'll hold the bag for you. (Our little inside joke)
4. The following card was in book form: Dearest Karlie... If you were a book... In the world's largest library... I would check you out.
5. With a broken pencil glued on: Life without you is like a broken pencil... completely pointless.
6. The last one was actually sentimental so I think I will just keep that one to myself :)

He is my favorite! I couldn't ask for a better husband. I love that he never changes who he is and makes every holiday unique to his personality. He is amazing! Happy love day!

My Girls

Jake mentioned to me last week that I have a lot of "girls" that I often refer to as "my girls." My activity days girls (my church calling), my friends, my sister, my students, and of course my basketball girls. This post about "my girls" is referring to my basketball girls.

This year I had the wonderful privelege of coaching the Springville Junior High Knights girls basketball team. what.a.blast!! Seriously! Even though it wasn't the most successful of seasons, I loved it more than I ever could have imagined. When I was first hired on I started thinking about all the hours that were going to be put into this team and the amount of money that was going to be received at the end of the season... let's just say it didn't add up... However, the reward and "payday" I got in the end, was better than any amount of money I could have been paid. I had the opportunity to get to know each of these girls on a personal level and experience a different outlook on junior high life.

I saw the girls come together as a team when times were tough and I saw just how strong these individual girls could be. It opened my eyes to just how great the future can be; I would be comfortable with the world in the hands of these young ladies because I am confident in their abilities, not only on the basketball court, but in life in general.

As the season came to a close I got teary eyed thinking about the fact that I may never see some of these girls again. I didn't want to sound like a creeper 21 year old asking for these 15 year old girls for their phone numbers... so I let myself let go of the girls. I encouraged each of them to come back and visit me whenever they would like. It was a great season, even if we didn't get very many wins or a huge paycheck at the end. I wouldn't trade this season for anything. Thanks to "my girls" for many wonderful memories and for helping me become a little bit better of a person just by knowing you.

I might be an old person because...

So a while back I wrote a post about how I might be a little kid because of the way I act all the time... I think I am more of an old person now and here are a few reasons why...

If I could go to bed at 7:00 and it would be socially acceptable, I would.
Eating dinner at 4:00 in the afternoon sounds very appealing.
Sometimes it's hard for me to sleep in past 6:30.
I love to squeeze fat babies cheeks.
Staying at home instead of going out is so great.
I sometimes have the urge to just yell at little kids because they have too much energy.
I truly enjoy knitting and sewing.
I'm always tired and sore.

These are just a few reasons why I feel like an old person lately, hopefully I get my youthful side back soon.

Bakers

Before I talk about the baking, I just wanted to post this picture. It's my friends and their significant others, this picture just makes me so happy!! :)

Now onto the baking... so Katie got some awesome frosting baking supplies so we decided to try out our skills at making an awesome cake. We made fondant, buttercream frosting, a two layer cake, and cupcakes. It was legit!! They turned out decent for our first attempt if I might say so myself.

The kitchen was a mess!! Thanks mom for unknowingly letting us use your kitchen.

The fondant was really tough to roll out. I was honestly sweating, such a great workout.

The buttercream frosting took about 2 pounds of butter and powdered sugar to finally work out. It didn't taste as wonderful as we were hoping. It was our first try though, next time it will be a great success.

The finished product, Katie did such a great job!

We wanted Caden to use them to aska girl to sweethearts but he said it was too late of notice. Bummer, at least it was a fun Saturday night for us...
