This past week as I have started working at the law firm again, I have realized just how invisible I can make myself at times.
Before I left S&J I had worked here for about a year and a half, a pretty decent amount of time, right? I left to do my student teaching and do a long term substitute position for about seven months and then I came back. Here are a few of the comments I received from individuals I had personally worked with on several occassions when I came back...
"You look really familiar, are you from around here? Did we go to school together?"
"Hi, I'm _________, what's your name?"
"Welcome, we hope you like it here."
They didn't even know who I was, let alone remember my name! I know I'm nothing special to remember but I thought they would at least know who I was. Apparently I need to talk and get out more!! I need to do something memorable at least! Even more than not recognizing me, there were some other funny comments that were made...
Comments made from people upstairs - "How was it working downstairs for a little bit?"
Comments made from people downstairs - "How was it working upstairs for a little bit?"
(They didn't even realize that I was actually gone for seven months, not just located somewhere else in the building, ha ha)
"Did you have a baby, is that why you were gone?"
"Is the school year over already?"
"So the teaching world didn't want you anymore?"
A pregnant lady - "It probably looks like I have been pregnant for over a year, I was almost due when you left last year and now I'm pregnant again and almost due."
Oh S&J, how I have missed you! I'm so happy to be back!
I get to work with my best friend Hailey.
I know exactly what I am doing since I have worked here before.
I don't have to learn a whole bunch of crazy new things.
I get to carpool with Jay and Hailey everyday.
I finally have more than $60 in my bank account.
I get to learn more about Medical Malpractice.
I can hear crazy stories from different people and try to help them out.
I have a job!!!!!
